What time of year is best for gutter cleaning?
Most experts agree the best time of year to clean your gutters is in the spring and fall. An early spring cleaning will help clear out all the leaves and debris from your gutters and ensure rainfall can flow freely into the spouts.
If your gutters no longer flow correctly or are completely blocked and no water can flow through the gutters at all this can lead to floods or even leakages and may cause damage to your property. Therefore, you should clean it well at least once a year. In places where there are many trees we recommend to clean the gutters once every six months.
When you don't clean your gutters, the downspout can get clogged from leaves, debris, or any matter that can wind up there. This blockage then leaves standing water to collect and eventually overflow. Left unattended to, the leaves that clog up your gutter and will begin to decompose and eventually rot.
On average, it’s estimated that gutter cleaners will charge approximately £3-£5 per metre of gutter.
At Mark Hughes professional window cleaning we will survey the gutters and provide you with a no obligation quotation. Example; blocked downpipe or small section of gutter cleaning, price would be in the region of £48.
As a minimum, you should check your gutters twice a year - once after autumn and once after spring. If the weather is particularly bad throughout the year, you should check on them three or four times – just in case there's more debris than normal.
